The Totara TXP: What does it mean to be a Core Leader?

Let's break down what Core Leadership is and how exactly the Totara TXP achieved it.

February has been a big month in Learning and Development, with Fosway’s release of the 2021 Fosway 9-Grid™ for Learning Systems capping it off. Androgogic congratulates Totara on their shift from the Core Challenger to the Core Leader zone in the 9-Grid. But what does it mean to be a Core Leader? And what does that mean for your organisation?

What is Core Leadership?

Core Leadership is all about customer satisfaction. The Core Leader category is on the furthest end of the Performance axis on the 9-Grid, which means that Totara is successfully delivering the services and functionality that organisations want and need.

How is Totara demonstrating Core Leadership?

Before we can get into how Totara is showing Core Leadership, we should first find out what professionals in the L&D industry really want. The L&D Global Sentiment Survey tracks the opinions of L&D professionals every year, asking one obligatory question: “What will be hot in L&D in 2021?” It’s these responses, and how the Totara TXP responds to them, that makes Totara a real Core Leader.

The highest scoring response on the L&D Global Sentiment Survey was reskilling/upskilling. In the age of COVID-19, it goes without saying that professionals need to adapt to a constantly changing work environment. Fosway reports that “COVID-19 has created an urgent need to address skills priorities, including upskilling and reskilling workforces to respond to economic challenges.” In order to address this need, Totara Perform and Totara Learn allow managers to identify learning gaps and areas for improvement in their teams and to assign learning based on these requirements.

The second most popular response in the survey was collaboration and social learning. Totara Engage responds to the industry need for a social learning space by allowing learners to create and discuss content, create their own custom playlists, and by integrating with Microsoft Teams (meeting the needs of the 84% of L&D professionals who believe an integration with Microsoft Teams is important). Engage allows learning to “be accessible from where the employee spends most of their working day, not just [from] a learning system,” as recommended by Fosway.

What does this all mean?

Totara’s Core Leader status means that they have a high performing TXP which addresses the needs of the organisations they support. The Totara TXP is answering the industry’s call  for agility and flexibility by creating spaces for reskilling, upskilling, and collaborative learning.

On achieving Core Leadership, Lars Hyland, Chief Learning Officer at Totara, said: “With over 1,800 customers and millions of users worldwide, Totara is justifiably recognized as a Core Leader in the learning and talent systems market. In today’s workplace, nurturing a skilled, flexible and adaptable workforce is critical to any organization’s future success. Totara customers are uniquely placed to gain strategic advantage as they can ensure their people stay motivated, highly skilled and productive in the face of unprecedented change.”
